Co-founder and Executive Editor for Poetry.

Jonathan is a poet and graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in history with a focus on early-modern European history. He currently studies law at Harvard.

Samuel is a graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in history with a concentration in Public History/Public Service and completed a minor in Drama with a concentration in Dance.  As a longtime poet, dancer, and performer, Samuel appreciates the vitality of the arts in fostering a creatively vibrant life.  Samuel believes that Literary Laundry will be a forum for reflection and discovery that will reinvigorate the experience of contemporary literature by contemporary Americans.

Edward is a student at Vanderbilt University, where he studies English Literature, Finance, and History--the first of the group with the most alacrity. Edward believes that good writing is the most important form of art. As such, he regards Literary Laundry as one of the most important artistic endeavors in America today.

Executive Editor for Prose Fiction.

Craig is a graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in International Relations. Craig is extremely interested in postmodern literature and short fiction. He is an avid chef, and enjoys wine and beer tasting. Craig looks forward to sharing his literary knowledge with the Literary Laundry community.

Senior Editor for Prose Fiction.

Dean is a graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in American Studies and received a master's degree in Communication. He currently works as a music writer for SF Weekly; for the past five years, he has also been the head editor and product developer for the educational company DemiDec. In addition, he has served as the head copy editor for The Stanford Daily and as a writer for Performer Magazine and CollectorsWeekly.com. In his spare time, Dean plays lead guitar for the San Francisco rock band Finding Jupiter.

Kelly is a Masters Student in literature at Columbia University. He graduated from Vanderbilt University, where studied languages and philosophy. Kelly originally hails from the small town of Granville, Ohio. He began writing poetry ten years ago and has periodically dabbled in short fiction, lately preferring the latter. He works at a coffeehouse and enjoys riding his “scrappy old Schwinn”.

Executive Editor for Drama.

Justin graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Philosophy and a minor in History. His studies have included such disparate focuses as moral and political philosophy, Kant and the ancients, and the philosophy of action. He possesses a strong passion for Shakespeare and drama, though his greatest literary fascination may lie with the Bloomsbury group.

Sakina is an undergraduate at Brown University, concentrating in English and Philosophy. She has a fond affinity for all things wine, cheese and chocolate. She also loves listening to jazz during rainstorms.

Jacob is a student at Stanford University, where he studies Classics and Philosophy.  His interests include Latin love elegy, Judo, and the Beatles.

Co-founder and Executive Editor for Critical Reflections.

Corey is a collegiate Assistant Professor in the Social Sciences at the University of Chicago. He received his Ph.D. in history at Stanford University. His research focuses on the free port of Livorno and the development of political economy in early modern Italy.

Co-founder and Webmaster.

Giulio is a graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in Engineering: Product Design. Giulio is a great maker of things, whether they be physical objects made for human use or websites and other software. He loves all things design (here's his design website). Giulio is also an avid photographer (go visit his photo website) and should Literary Laundry begin hosting photographs, he'll be the first to take notice.

Associate Editor for Poetry.

Carmen is an undergraduate student at the University of Florida, majoring in English and Classical Studies. She has a great enthusiasm for languages, animals, traveling, and all things dessert. After graduating from college, she intends to teach English abroad, as well as pursue an MFA degree.

Josh is a student at Stanford, where he studies Symbolic Systems, Jewish Studies, and Economics. He has spent extensive time in Israel, exploring the philosophical and theological questions of Judaism. At Stanford, Josh serves as a leader in the campus Jewish community. His other passions include fiction, music, sports (he rides equestrian at Stanford), travel, food, and, now that he has reached that ripe old age, drink.

Zachary Fogelson is an undergraduate at Harvard University, where he studies Computer Science and Philosophy. Zach has an affinity for travel, Flemish Baroque still-lifes, René Magritte, and other things—some of which are related to literature and others of which are related to laundry.

Marketing and Distribution Director

Erik is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and the University of Glasgow. He currently lives on Long Island where he works at an independent bookshop. He has published many articles on Virginia Woolf and 20th Century Literature as well as numerous poems in online journals. While primarily a poet, he draws most of his inspiration from lyrical novels and short stories.

After having taken two years off mid-college to live in Italy and write his experiences in pocket-sized moleskines, Ned finally graduated in 2011 from Stanford with a major in History, Literature and the Arts focused on modern Europe and specifically contemporary Italy. He is ecstatic that Berlusconi has ungracefully fallen off the proverbial ship and hopes to return to Italy as soon as he can. He is currently trying to make it in the food world in Boston. He is in a very serious romantic relationship with the English language, having fallen for her poetic embrace long ago.

James is a graduate of Stanford University, where he studied Human Biology with a concentration in health care economics. He currently works as a portfolio analyst at CM Capital Advisors. James is an avid lover of all things art, literature, and film. He hopes that Literary Laundry will provide a continual descent into the ever-elusive dynamism of our contemporary creative world.

Emily is a student at the University of Chicago, where she studies Near Eastern Languages and Civilization with a prospective minor in Creative Writing. Despite her love for Fiction, Emily also devotes herself to ballet, drama, piano, and singing, among other passions.

Eric Karpas is a student at Stanford University. He is majoring in Earth Systems and pursuing minors in both Economics and Creative Writing. He serves on the editorial board of the Stanford Flipside, the university’s satirical newspaper. His literary interests cover a broad range of genres within the world of fiction, and his favorite authors include Fyodor Dostoevsky, Kurt Vonnegut, and Stephen King. Eric greatly looks forward to adding new names to this list while working with Literary Laundry!

Sam Martin is a student at Brown University studying History and Literary Arts. Her literary interests center on fiction, but brush up against poetry and screenwriting as well. She's particularly fond of Haruki Murakami. She is also a big fan of revolutions, night-running, Genghis Khan, and wearing the color green.

Elizabeth Metzger graduated from Brown University with a concentration in English and Literary Arts. Emily Dickinson enthusiast, native New Yorker, co-founder of The Round Magazine, and a poet herself, she hopes to join (and invite others to join) the timeless conversation of readers and writers. She is moving to California where she is eager to keep poetry alive, in addition to living up to her more practical goal of learning to drive.

Grzegorz Robak is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago where he double majored in Italian Language, Literature, and Culture, and Music. He has received the Medal of the President of the Italian Republic, an award of academic excellence granted in recognition of his contributions to the study of Italian culture in the USA.

Greg was born in Poland in 1987 and moved to the United States in 1996. His interests include playing music on the piano, guitar, or bagpipes, and singing (check out his online music portfolio). Additionally, Greg enjoys musing on philosophy, theology, and life in the company of friends and a glass of wine (preferably from the Republic of Georgia).

Caroline is a student at Northwestern University, where she studies Radio/Television/Film and European History. As a devoted student in the latter discipline, she is always keen to explore - through her poetry, prose, and most recently, screenplays - how the complexities of the past inspire the art of the present.

Ben is entering his senior year at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY, where he is double majoring in history and political science. His interests include politics, good food, good drink, good book, good movies, and good music. In his opinion, there is no party quite like a Literary Laundry party.

Lindsey Jean Smith graduated from Stanford University with a double BA in English: Creative Writing and Italian. She has loved reading and writing since she was a small child, and has recently cultivated a passion for creative nonfiction. Favorite authors include Virginia Woolf, Graham Greene, Katherine Mansfield, Nikolai Gogol, Guy de Maupassant, Barbara Kingsolver, Eula Biss, Gay Talese, and Bill Buford. She's quite excited to be part of the Literary Laundry team!

Jacob Stern is a student at Stanford University pursuing a BA in History and a minor in Chemistry. In his "free" time, he helps to run Stanford's Mongolian Cultural Association, works with Amyris Biotechnologies, and enjoys the company of his friends and family. Jacob's love of a good read is only matched by his enduring passion for excellent food and drink. That said, he looks forward to developing a passion for laundry.

Jenny graduated from Stanford University in 2010 with a B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies and a minor in Jewish Studies. As an undergrad, she helped to found the campus's first interfaith student group. She is currently an M.A. student in Religious Studies at Stanford, writing a thesis on conservative Christian homeschooling in America. Despite her love for Stanford, Jenny retains a special place in her heart for her hometown, Portland, Oregon.

Matthew is a writer living in New York City. He is a graduate of Syracuse University, where he studied Philosophy. Matthew's favorite authors include Virginia Woolf, James Joyce, Wallace Stevens, and Anne Carson His preferred writing conditions include a rainy day, a clean kitchen table, and a pot of freshly made green tea.

Amanda Hameline is a student at Harvard University studying American History and Literature, while currently writing her thesis on gold diggers and the history of marriage in the early twentieth-century. Outside of academic and literary pursuits, dance remains a central passion.

Daniel Vallejo received his BA in Political Science and English from Syracuse University in the spring of 2011. He he will begin a JD/PhD program at St. Louis University as a Dean's Scholar in the fall of 2012, concentrating in Health Law and Bioethics. Daniel enjoys lengthy novels; his favorite authors are William Gaddis and Don DeLillo.
